The rust breaking through the concrete in the painting seems a gentle reminder of our own impermanence; a meditation on how everything we create eventually returns to its elemental state.
My process mimics the natural weathering, resulting in a surface that evokes the raw beauty of washed out and rusted materials found in nature.
I've always been utterly fascinated by the fact, that no surface stays unblemished forever, and found an austere beauty in the way materials transform and reveal their deeper layers.
I won't say much about the title except this: the contrast between the smooth white areas and the textured, weathered portions creates a tension that speaks to impermanence and change.
