This piece is one of my own favorites: A (hopefully) convincing patina of rust and corrosion, with varying depths of reddish-brown tones, golden highlights, and darker patches that perfectly mimic the natural processes of metal oxidation.
The small scorched sections creates a stark contrast against the surrounding oxidized tones, transitioning from intense black through smoky grays into the rusty browns.
The use of actual burning as a technique speaks to a fascinating intersection of painting and pyrography, where you literally alter the canvas's physical structure.
The burnt area's edges scatter into speckles of char and rust, creating an organic boundary that no brush alone could achieve. Displayed in a white minimalist interior, it should make the illusion of an industrial metal plate even more striking.
