Illusion of permanence

I find natural decomposition, and the fact that nature gradually takes back what humans have created incredibly fascinating.

Actually, most of my work might be a visual meditation on the observation that nothing is, but everything happens . . .

On my frequent meditative beach walks, it often strikes me how the waves aren't really thing at all, but a momentary form that energy takes as it moves through the water. Just as we humans are strange (some would argue divine) temporary arrangements of matter and consciousness moving through time.

When you truly start to understand how everything is transient and in flux, it makes the present moment feel more precious and real, not less. There's no need to grasp at permanence or worry about the future: we can simply be present with the endless dance of becoming and dissolving (just like the waves forming and dissipating on the shore).
