Actually, the painting is directly inspired by the WW2 bunkers on Søndervig beach.
Creating the mottled, deteriorating texture with patches of white breaking through I thought of salt-weathered concrete, oxidized metal surfaces, the harsh effects of sea spray and sand, and time's relentless impact on man-made structures.

The composition has a dramatic contrast between the dark, weathered grays in the upper portion transitioning into rich, rusty oranges and browns at the bottom, much like the corroded concrete and rusting metal you find on those old coastal fortifications.
